Editor’s Note: This article concerns itself with Reishi appearing in the MTV series Teen Wolf ONLY. Click here for information on real world Reishi mushroom.

Reishi mushroom, also known Lingzhi mushrooms, are medicinal mushrooms commonly found in Asian countries used in Chinese medicine for over 2,000 years.

The name "Lingzhi" when translated means "soul/spirit mushroom".

Real World PropertiesEdit

Coming in many varieties, reishi has been used to cure or ease various aliments. Such treatments with this fungi include stiff necks, stiff shoulders, conjunctivitis, bronchitis, rheumatism, and improving the immune system without any significant side-effects.

Because of its bitter taste, it is traditionally prepared as a hot water extract product. It is thinly sliced or pulverized and added to a pot of boiling water. The resulting liquid is fairly bitter in taste and dark colored.

Teen Wolf MythologyEdit

Noshiko Yukimura uses reishi to make her husband cough out a fly after the Nogitsune attacks him. (The Fox and the Wolf)

When The Chemist creates a weaponized version of distemper, he uses a tea made out of Reishi to prevent himself from getting sick. After Scott McCall and his friends are infected, Dr. Deaton reveals that Satomi remained unaffected because her own Reishi tea made her anoculated. She gave "wild purple reishi" to Talia Hale as a gift who kept it in her family vault. After the pack breaths in the spores, they are cured. (Weaponized)
