He can't become a werewolf because he is that character that would make a perfect werewolf, but stays human. They need a loyal human, because out of the humans, he knows the most, and is on the werewolves' side. Lydia only begun to find out about all this during the last episode of season 2, and there is a chance that she will freak out. We aren't really sure where Allison stands right now, and Danny doesn't know anything about this. They need Stiles to be able to do all the stuff the werewolves can't, like the Mountain Ash. From the outside he is like Alfred or Robin to Batman, doing the research or being the sidekick, but really, he's the hero of the werewolves' stories, always saving their lives when they can't do it.

There have been no cases of born alphas on the show to date so none exists in the canon as we know it.

If that changes we will change the articles to reflect the new information.

Most people know the character simply as Boyd because that was all they ever showed on television.

Other examples include Gerard and Erica.
