WonderCon Wrap Up

I was busy over the weekend trying find and post all the interviews and other videos from WonderCon.

Now though, I’ve had time to go through the material and pull some of the new information gleaned from all that loose talk.

Here’s the stuff I found important or interesting – please add your thoughts in the comments.

Production[]

  • Jeff’s writing Episode 10 which is on the production schedule this week.
  • The Carver Twins are in at least the first 12 Episodes and Jeff hints they may stick around after that.
“We’ve got the twins, Max and Charlie Carver who I think are going to be great additions to the show. I'm actually really excited about them partially because they’re just such nice guys and I love having them around. Their arc (story arc) is 12 episodes for now.”
  • Ennis will be in more episodes than originally planned because actor Brian Patrick Wade brought so much to the part.
  • The cast is relieved to be shooting closer to home in LA but miss the vibe in Atlanta which Posey described as “like summer camp”.

Characters[]

  • Jeff says “Gerard is not dead.” This is not new information but he became very coy when asked if the character would be coming back and apparently Jeff and actor Michael Hogan had lunch over the weekend so he’s still close to the show.
  • Peter will work with Derek. He’s still Sassy but will be more ally than adversary this season.
  • According to Posey, Scott is an Omega.
“Scott is an Omega so he is a lot less powerful than the Alphas and there’s a whole pack of them this time which is unheard of. So it’s intense… and the leader of the Alpha Pack is even stronger than the Alphas so it’s crazy.”

DC Comics Disses Teen Wolf Fans

WonderCon wasn’t all warm fuzzies for the Teen Wolf Crowd.

The show became the topic of derision and sexist jokes during a panel featuring DC Comics Senior Vice President Of Marketing John Cunningham and "Superman" and "Teen Titans" writer Scott Lobdell.

According to an account published by Comic Book Resources

"I've never seen so many women in the room," Lobdell interrupted, asking the women in the audience (over half the room) to stand up and receive a round of applause.
"Oh, you're here for the 'Teen Wolf' panel after us," Lobdell joked as the audience laughed and a group of "Teen Wolf" fans cheered.”
“Cunningham began by highlighting DC Comics' We Can Be Heroes initiative, which raised over a million dollars last year to help combat the hunger crisis in the horn of Africa.
"How much did 'Teen Wolf' raise?" Lobdell asked.
"I believe it was zero dollars!" Cunningham replied.”

Spiritsdwell, a woman who claims she was in the audience for the panel, had this response –

“While the Teen Wolf shaming came off as pretty uncalled for, as a young woman who actually attended this panel, I'm more interested to know if anyone else took their "Women, please stand up! Oh, you're all Teen Wolf fans, never mind!" comment as offensive.”
“Granted, I had a friend who WAS there for the Teen Wolf panel, but I was there for DC 101 and to get bitterly dismissed as something I am not, in one lump sum, was pretty insulting.”
